Archaeological area of via San Cosimo

Below the courtyard of Palazzo Vimercati which, together with other buildings, is now the seat of the "Daughters of Jesus" Congregation, lies a surprising archaeological area, the subject of recent restoration and rearrangement works.
Crossing the entrance, a fascinating archaeological palimpsest opens up to the visitor's view which preserves very important evidence of the city's curtain wall and its evolutionary phases, from the Roman municipal age to the early Middle Ages. Furthermore, two rooms of a rich domus from the imperial age are kept here, built close to the walls and equipped with magnificent, extraordinarily preserved floors.
