Like many entrepreneurial legends, it all began in an iconic tavern in Verona’s San Zeno district. The goal has always been to communicate and popularise archaeology professionally, aiming to break through traditional academic boundaries and bring archaeological culture to everyday people.
Archaeonaute was founded in Verona in 2010, the brainchild of four female archaeologists determined to make archaeology accessible and engaging for an ever-wider and more diverse audience.
Over the years, Archaeonaute has grown significantly both in Verona and across Italy, and today boasts a team of about ten specialists in archaeology, art history, and cultural tourism. The association has established itself as a benchmark in Verona for the promotion and dissemination of archaeological heritage.
Archaeonaute’s activities include managing archaeological sites in Verona, providing archaeological education in schools, and organising tours, exhibitions, and cultural events throughout Italy, alongside collaborations with museums and local institutions. They also offer training courses for archaeologists, contribute to newspapers and magazines, and feature on television programmes to promote archaeology. Above all, Archaeonaute’s primary mission is the desire to convey and communicate the immense cultural and historical value that archaeological heritage represents for humanity.
Annarosa Tricomi
Annarosa Tricomi, archaeologist. Struck by inspiration during a high school trip to the archaeological museums of Berlin, she decided to pursue archaeology and never look back—especially after 2004, when she began working on excavations at several wonderful sites in Verona and beyond. Holding both a Master’s degree and a PhD in Roman archaeology, her expertise spans from numismatics to loom weights, as she appreciates every aspect of the field. Today, the Association represents her primary professional commitment.
An animal and sea lover, she divides her time between Archaeonaute events, guided tours, archaeological travels, and her two young daughters, for whom she dreams of a future as Indiana Jones.

Morena Tramonti
Morena Tramonti, archaeologist. She realized her true calling was archaeology in the early 2000s, when she found herself holding a pickaxe and shovel at archaeological excavation sites in Verona—exhausted but happy. She holds a Master’s degree in Medieval Archaeology, followed by a post-graduate Master’s specialization.
An absolute powerhouse of ideas, she jumps on her inseparable Vespa and achieves every goal she sets her mind to. Her passion for public archaeology and heritage promotion makes her an incomparable communicator. While scientifically flawless, she has the rare gift of making any ancient stone feel engaging and full of life!

Maria Rita Bertoncini
Maria Rita Bertoncini, archaeologist. Way back in 2003, she chose to study Archaeology at the University of Padua, already dreaming of faraway destinations and memorable adventures. Over time, those dreams lost their fleeting essence and turned into the literal soil of excavation sites—yet her thirst for exploration never faded.
She earned her Master’s degree in Roman Archaeology and then set out to conquer the Urbe (Rome), where she worked as a licensed tour guide. It was in Rome that the planning for the first archaeological tours began—activities that have now earned their place among Archaeonaute’s most established and specialized services.
Today, having permanently returned to her home base in Verona, she handles guided tours, archaeological travels, and the management of the Association.
