Medieval Verona and the Scaliger Dynasty
Discovering medieval history in the footsteps of the Scaliger family.
Following the fall of the Roman Empire and throughout the Kingdom of the Lombards, Verona’s strategic position defined its central role in controlling Northern Italy.
With the revival beginning around the turn of the millennium, Verona experienced a new period of economic and artistic flourish, leading it to become one of the region’s most thriving urban centres and resulting in the establishment of the Commune. Over time, with the rise of the Della Scala family, the city transitioned into the Signoria of the Scaligers.
